Product Description

SAMe bottleshot
SAMe
S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine
Supports Joint Comfort, Function and Mobility
Source Naturals® SAMe is a stable, bioavailable form of S-adenosyl-L-methionine. These tablets are enteric coated and blister packed to prevent breakdown and inactivation of the ingredients.

Dozens of clinical studies have demonstrated that SAMe supports joint comfort, function and mobility in the spine, hips and knees. It is important to the joints because of its critical role in cartilage formation. SAMe helps to form proteoglycans, which are used to renew the matrix of cartilage.

The studies also show that SAMe helps support a positive outlook. It is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, where it affects the synthesis and activation of various proteins, such as neurotransmitters. SAMe also plays a role in transmethylation. Transmethylation reactions affect the synthesis, activation, and metabolism of various biological molecules.

Some compounds that SAMe methylates are phospholipids. This is a fundamental step in the mediation of cell to cell communication.

SAMe is present in every living cell in the body and plays an important part in many critical cellular functions. However, levels of SAMe tend to decline with age.*

-  What is SAMe?

SAMe (S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine) is a natural compound formed in our bodies from the amino acid methionine.

-  What is it used for?

SAMe plays many roles in the body. It supports joint comfort, function and mobility in the spine, hips and knees. It also supports a healthy mood and the liver’s normal detoxification processes.

-  How does SAMe work?

SAMe circulates throughout the body, even crossing the blood brain barrier, where it affects the synthesis and activation of various proteins, phospholipids and neurotransmitters.

-  What is special about SAMe?

SAMe is present in every living cell in the body. SAMe is known as a “methyl donor.” This means that it works by giving up a methyl group to other molecules, a process known as methylation. In this process, a hydrogen atom is replaced by a methyl group, which consists of a carbon atom with three hydrogen atoms attached.

-  Why is methylation so important?

Some compounds need to be methylated in order to become active in the body. Methylation can be involved in regulation of gene expression, regulation of protein function, and the modification of heavy metals. Methylation plays an important part in many critical body functions, including the formation of phosphatidylcholine (lecithin) that you need for cell membranes, production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, memory and concentration, and the development of mood enhancing neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. Methylation also supports normal healthy liver function by helping to change toxins into soluble forms that can be processed and excreted by the body.
